2022 - with a vision and a plan!

Hey, thanks for stopping by and spending some of your precious time with me! I hope you've had a wonderful day this far, and that you thrive despite all the challenges we're met these days!

I've put together a few words today, to let you in on some highlights on my journey to becoming a full-time, purpose driven sustainability ambassador.

Every morning when I wake up I put on a smile and think to myself "WOW - how lucky am I to have been given one more beautiful day"! I've been doing this for a few years now, but it took me months of practice to get the hang of it, because life is full of challenges and it is tough (more days than not)! However I've learned that by starting my day with a positive attitude and a smile (wow, that sounds cheesy) it becomes slightly more bearable and now it has become a habit. A necessary habit since we all need to keep our heads up and to stay healthy - not only physically, but also mentally. The world is struggling, but together I believe we can make it through!

For those of you who have made it this far and still wonder what's to come, I've put together a few highlights from my awakening when it comes to environmental challenges and opportunities...

An inconvenient truth

In 2006, almost 16 years ago (!) Al Gore's documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" was released, raising international public awareness of global warming and reenergizing the environmental movement. After watching the documentary, I remember feeling overwhelmed by the magnitude of the challenges it portrayed and I felt worried. At that time I had just given birth to my second child, and my oldest was only two. What future could I provide for them in the world that Al Gore was portraying?

Knowledge is the foundation of action

In 2008 BI Norwegian Business School launched their Master of Management program 'Corporate Responsibility, Globalization and Climate Change' and I felt strongly that I needed to be part of that, so I applied and got in.

I then had a year of reading book, reports, and documentaries on climate change, environmental protection, business ethics, corporate social responsibility, - the list goes on. The more I learned, the more I knew the urgency and that I had to do something.

Between then and 2017 I searched for a better understanding of the "inconvenient truths", the causes and effects, and started looking into the different solutions.

An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power

In 2017 Al Gore's sequel launched, just four months after I had started my own company - destined to spend the rest of my life doing everything in my power to contribute to making the future sustainable. I watched it as soon as it was available for download. It confirmed all the "predictions" from the first documentary. And for weeks I kept hearing Al Gore's voice in my head saying:

" What were you thinking? Couldn't you hear what the scientists were saying? What Mother Nature was screaming at you?" and "It is wrong to pollute this Earth! It is right to give hope to the future generations!"

I was ready to "fight like the world depends on it"!

The Paris Agreement and CCUS

The Paris Agreement is a legally binding international treaty on climate change that brings all countries into a common cause to undertake efforts to combat climate change and adapt to its effects.

At the moment I am working together with the members in CCUS Norge (CCUS Norway) and their stakeholders and collaborating partners, on finding solutions to how we can finance and regulate solutions that remove CO2 from the atmosphere - 'Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS)'. I get to have these amazing conversations with all the knowledgeable people in the network - which I am immensely grateful for - and I believe that TOGETHER we will find the right way!
